9781444798111Dead Pretty by David Mark:

DS McAvoy is back in his 5th outing. This is the first David Mark book that I have read and I must say it’s a very harrowing read. The characters are very well written, the story moves along in lightning speed. Without spoiling it, the story is about Hannah Kelly who has been missing for nine months and another girl Ava Delaney who has been dead for five days , it’s a race against time to find the missing girl and avenge Ava’s death before he or they strike again by any means necessary even if it’s outside the law. If you like authors like Peter James or Stuart Macbride then this is the next series to delve into. – Bill (Store 2IC)

9780730324218The Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape:

Everyone needs to read this book! I have read a decent few different finance books but this one really is totally different and makes soooo much more sense! It’s funny to read, easy to understand and Scott gives you real solid steps to get you on your way to financial freedom (that doesn’t include making budget spread sheets!) Even if you think you are good with money, I still firmly believe you will enjoy this book and get a lot of wisdom from it. – Chantelle (Store Manager)

9781616957032The Devil and Winnie Flynn by Micol Ostow:

Winnie Flynn is a realist through and through, so when her estranged maternal Aunt Mona, a celebrity reality TV producer, asks her to intern on a new show tracking the hunt of the legendary New Jersey Devil, Winnie is skeptical. However, her mother committed suicide not long ago, and Winnie is curious to see a side of her life she’s never been privy to before, and perhaps find some answers about her mother’s sudden death along the way. The cast and crew of’Fantastic, Fearsome’, fervent believers and unwilling deniers alike, are determined to convert her, and perhaps they won’t have to try as hard as Winnie would like to believe; strange occurrences on set that can’t be explained practically make Winnie realise that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding not only her mother’s death, but the entire line of women in her family, and it all seems to be linked to the Devil that threatens to resurface.

If you’re a fan of the occult, whether you truly believe or not, this book is an awesome read. Teen angst, family drama (of both the normal and supernatural sort), and a touch of horror are the main elements of this story and are developed in a slow-burning, suspenseful way. The novel is written mostly as an extended letter to Winnie’s friend, providing the sense that she’s actually addressing the reader, but is broken up by scenes written as sections of script, which creates a blend of confessional writing and third-person omniscience that makes the reader eager to learn more about the characters’ relationships and, of course, what the heck is happening with the New Jersey Devil. – Payton

9780099554790The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern:

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it…
It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.

A great collection of characters fill these pages, our main protagonists, Celia and Marco, an eccentric circus owner, a mystical fortune teller. But the true star of this book is the circus. Rich with beautiful descriptions Morgenstern pulls you in, wraps you up and doesn’t let you go until the spell is cast. The Night Circus enchanted me in a way few books have before, I didn’t just read this book, I fell into it, the more I consumed of it the
more I was consumed by it. A tale of magic and mystery, love and deception, light and dark in equal measure, this was like a dream I didn’t want to wake from. – Jess

9781925266955Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld & Margo Lanagan & Deborah Biancotti:

This is not a normal super hero tale, The Zeroes are not even close to a team when we first get to know them. In fact there is a lot of anger and hate between the young adults with odd powers, and yes, their powers are odd – almost like extremes of normal social behaviour or anti social in one case.
This book grips you right from the start and then leaves you wanting more! Lucky for us book two is out and called SWARM! This is a must read for fans of superhero, science fiction fun!- Sam
