Even Katniss didn’t get Slated!

Kyla is a terrorist – at least that’s what the government has told her…

9781408319468Kyla’s memory has been erased, her personality wiped clean and all of her past thoughts lost forever. By being Slated, the powers in charge have given Kyla a second chance – as long as she plays by their rules. But someone is lying to her. Echoes of her past whisper throughout her mind, and plague her… What if nothing is as it seems?

Teri Terry’s Slated is one of the more original dystopian, young adult books available. The futuristic United Kingdom is actual realistic, and Terry has done an amazing job of convincing reader’s just how, with terrifying ease, our world could change into Kyla’s. The political elements are both insightful and interesting to read, as the underlying theme of unease weaves its way throughout the plot. Kyla and reader’s alike are on the edge of their seat as the need to discover more of Kyla’s past consumes the novel.

Slated is a must read for any of those who devoured The Hunger Games and Divergent. The first in the series, Slated is one of those books that completely takes you by surprise and will have you bashing down your nearest bookshop’s doors to get the next instalment. Much like The Maze Runner, there is a hint at romance, but it does not overpower the story which makes for an enjoyable read.

Filled with twists and turns, intrigue and lies, Slated is one to add to your book list!
