Reviewsday: Children of Fire by Drew Karpyshyn

fANTASYWEEKV2

The fires of Chaos burn as the world turns.

Four children hold it’s fate in their hands.

Will they save the world, or doom it?

9780091952839Long ago the gods chose a great hero, Daemron, to act as their champion in the mortal realm and to stand against the demonic spawn of Chaos. To help him succeed, they gifted Daemron with three magical Talismans: a sword, a ring, and a crown. But the power at his command corrupted Daemron and he dared to challenge the gods themselves. Siding with the Chaos spawn, Daemron waged a mighty battle against the Immortals. A battle that he lost. The Talismans were lost, hidden away in time and memory, and the Gods sacrificed themselves to create the Legacy- a magical barrier to contain Chaos.
A religious cabal called The Order have been tasked to maintain this magical shield, protecting the world from the Chaos and its minions- and they will do anything to protect it.

Now the Legacy is weakening. On the other side, the fallen champion grows strong enough to cast his essence out into the world. Across the scattered corners of the land, four children are born under a red moon of suffering and strife, each embodying one trait of Daemron himself—wizard, warrior, prophet, king.

Though Keegan, Cassandra, Scythe and Vaaler grow up in different places with different lives, their fates are intertwined – but whether it is their destiny to restore the Legacy or release Daemron upon the world remains unknown.

Chaos cannot be controlled. It has it’s own mind.
