Jules Demarco feels like the least popular girl in school. Living in an apartment above the family owned-and-run restaurant means that she can never manage to be rid of the clinging smell of pizza and has the privilege of using their food van (a double-meatball shaped monstrosity) to drive herself and her siblings to school. Really, though, she can manage to put all that embarrassing stuff behind her and live a relatively normal life. Until every screen she comes across – movie theatres, tv screens, her laptop – shows her the same vision over and over: a truck hitting a building, an explosion and nine body bags in the snow.

The vision is everywhere and Jules is sure she’s going crazy. But as each day passes, the vision begins to change, becoming clearer and detailed, and Jules is sure that whatever is going to happen is getting closer. As she figures out ways to pick clues from the tormenting scenes, and starts to piece together what she’s seeing, it suddenly becomes clear that the people who are in danger are people that Jules has known her whole life; one of them, her arch-enemy and secret love. The next problem, now that she’s figured out where the accident occurs, is trying to find out when it’s happening and how to stop it.

Crash is a riveting read from start to finish. Following Jules as she struggles to maintain a normal façade whilst desperately trying to solve the puzzle is a thrilling, heart-wrenching experience that will leave you breathless.
