If you have not seen the fantastic drama that is Orange Is The New Black, we seriously recommend it. It has definitely set our office all atwitter! While it does deviate slightly from the book on which the show is based, the essence of Piper’s story is still the same. Better still if you’re in a reading group or book club (like me) you can play spot the difference!
To catch you up : The show is loosely based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, and follows the story the story of Piper Chapman, a woman in her thirties who is sentenced to fifteen months prison after being convicted of a decade-old crime. Currently it is in it’s second season, which starting airing in Australia on Showcase in July 2014.
Interestingly Piper and the other characters in the show are often seen reading or referencing various books throughout the show from Harry Potter to The Help (which is why book nerds love it so) and this has started a number of blogs and tumblrs listing these works.
