Some kind of Mumderful…

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and we here at QBD thought we’d share with you some of our favourite literary quotes about everyone’s favourite ladies- mums.

Mums have played a crucial role in so many of our favourite stories- not to mention our own lives- that it’s great to have a special day to celebrate the strength, wisdom and warmth they bring.

“A mother’s love is the strongest energy known to man”- Jamie McGuire, Eden

“My mother smiled at me. Her smile kind of hugged me.”- R J Palacio, Wonder

“When you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know”- Mitch Albom, For One More Day

“Mothers are all slightly insane”- J D Salinger, Catcher in the Rye

“Mum always says the right thing. She always makes everything better”- Sophie Kinsella, Mini-shopaholic

“Love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves it’s own mark” – J K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

“God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers”- Rudyard Kipling

“Her laugh was enough to kick over what you were doing and follow her down the street”- Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch

“My mother… she is beautiful, softened at the edges and tempered with a spine of steel. I want to grow old and be like her.” – Jodi Picoult

“A good mother is irreplaceable.” – Adriana Trigiani

Also. if your mum is a book reader, a nice little extra gift idea can be to make your own bookmark using one these great quotes. All you need is pens, paper and a creative spirit!
