Reviewsday: Revival by Stephen King

9781444789188Do I even really need to tell you how good this book is? We all know Stephen King is a legend. Worldwide he has sold over 350 million copies of his books, which is the equivalent of every man, woman and child in Australia owning 15 King books. So when news crosses my desk of a new Stephen King title being released, he has my attention.
Revival is one of those slower, creeping horror stories that keeps you hooked with little baits hinting at a much larger terror to come. The story is narrated by Jamie Morton – ex-drug addict, ex-rock star, and ex-believer – looking back on his life and the many unbelievable things he has witnessed. Most of these are at the hands of Charles Jacobs, Jamie’s childhood minister and friend, whose obsession with the healing powers of electricity leads him slowly but surely towards insanity, and the dark edges of our reality.
Beware. Here there be monsters.
