QBD Reviews: Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover

23587984Maybe Not is a novella which brings the spotlight onto Warren and Bridgette from her novel Maybe Someday, ultimately delivering an entertaining insight into two characters who prove that what seems like hate and could be love are two sides of the same coin.

Though it’s been a while since I’d read Maybe Someday when it was first released, I remember the sub-plot of Warren and Bridgette’s little rivalry. In this expose of sorts, us readers are given further insight into their story from the beginning – from Warren’s bad habits to Bridgette’s feisty attitude. They are both strong personalities, both stubborn in their own ways, and both in the end just wanting to be loved (even if they won’t admit it). I was almost reminded of Much Ado About Nothing when thinking back on all those witty remarks and the broader direction of the plot. However, while there are definitely places were you’re bound to smirk, or even laugh at some of the dialogue that can’t help but draw you in; there’s also a deeper side to this story. The 128 pages really do fly by, though despite the small package, this piece packs a punch.
