On Wednesday the 28th of August, the incredible romance author, Hannah Grace took over our social accounts to celebrate the soon-to-be-released “Daydream” which is the third novel in the Maple Hill series.
Hannah gave us an insight into her two new protagonists and chatted with her awesome fan base about her writing style, Taylor Swift of course, and her favourite things about Australia.
Hannah Grace is an English author, writing adult contemporary romance between characters who all carry a tiny piece of her. When she’s not describing everyone’s eyes ten-thousand times a chapter, accidentally giving multiple characters the same name, or googling American English spellings, you can find her oversharing online, or, occasionally, reading a book from her enormous TBR. Hannah is the instant #1 New York Times bestselling author of Icebreaker and Wildfire and a proud parent to two dogs.
Keep reading to dive into the amazing Q&A we had with Hannah and her characters, Henry and Halle.
Let’s get to know Hannah a little more…
Q: Last year we asked you who would pick as your roommate in the Maple Hills Universe, and you picked Russ. Now you’ve added DAYDREAM to the mix, has your answer changed?
A: This is a hard one. I’d still LOVE to live with Russ, but I feel like living with Halle would be so calm and chill too. Maybe we could have a three-bedroom house? I’ve ruled out living with JJ and I’d definitely let Cami influence me if I lived with her, so she’s a no as well. Part of me thinks a big house with all the girls would be so fun but I’m going to stick to my peaceful house with Russ and Halle (and obviously Joy, who would definitely come along.)
Q: DAYDREAM is your third book, what do you think Halle and Henry add to the Maple Hills series?
A: I think all of my books fall under the soft category—at least I’d like to think so—but Halle and Henry’s love story is definitely a slower burn that ICEBREAKER and WILDFIRE. Their friendship builds first, whereas my other two books are more about attraction first friendship second. It definitely feels more about the gentle way we love and it was such a nice change of pace for both me as an author and my characters. It really suits H+H to have things build throughout the book as they get to know each other. Halle is such a soft girl compared to the more confident and assertive Anastasia and Aurora. The focus on friendship, especially between the women in the series, is an important edition.
In “Daydream” we follow the slow-burn love story of Halle and Henry. They cross paths at The Enchanted Bookstore, and they meet again when Henry needs help with his class reading material. Let’s hear a little more from Halle…
Q. If you could make Henry read any romance book, which book would you choose?
So. Many. Options. After thirty seconds of careful consideration, the answer is obviously BRIDE by Ali Hazelwood. I’m not sure I’m mentally or emotionally ready to explain to Henry what knotting is, but I would take one for the team to see him read it for the first time.
Q. Kiss 💋 Marry 💍 Kill 🔪: Taylor Swift albums
This is unbelievably cruel. It’s like picking between my children?! I guess if I have to choose and you won’t ask me a different question… I’m so sorry, Red TV. You don’t deserve this, but I’m afraid that I’m going to need to say RIP 🔪. Speak Now TV, let’s kiss. Yes, I hum the tune to Enchanted every time I walk through the door to work, and I will never get tired of it. Obviously, I want to marry folklore. I feel like this doesn’t really require an explanation. The girls that get it, get it. 💍
To finish let’s hear from the heart-melting ice hockey captain, Henry Turner!
1. You claim you don’t like rom-coms, but we have a source that says you get very invested despite claiming you’re not interested. Name your top 5 rom-com movies to watch with Halle?
Halle had questions about her interests, and I get this? Okay then, I have to choose…
To All The Boys I Loved Before. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Clueless. Crazy Rich Asians. Bridget Jones’s Diary. Halle and Stassie have the same taste in movies—Aurora, too—so it’s hard to pinpoint who first sat me down, but they’re the ones we watch the most.
2. If you had to pick one friend to take advice from for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Halle… What do you mean I can’t pick Halle? She’s my best friend. Fine. Russ. Sure, JJ thinks it should be him. Nate and Robbie probably do, too, but Russ is the person who is most likely to give me good advice. He’s very level-headed and I don’t need to worry he’s recommending I do something just to see what the outcome might be. That’s always a risk when you ask JJ for advice. He calls it “doing it for the plot” and it’s pretty unhelpful.
