Franc.World – February Review

“The Book of Wondrous Possibilities” by Deborah Abela

Our friend’s at QBD have done it again with a beautiful Book of the Month. Full of magic, adventure and a little pet mouse called Herbert, The Book of Wondrous Possibilities is a captivating read for tween readers.

Written by Deborah Abela, Wondrous Possibilities tells the story of Arlo Goodman who lives with his Uncle Avery in a run-down flat above their bookshop. He has no friends, except for his pet mouse, Herbert.

But when a girl called Lisette bursts into the shop and begs him to hide her from a murderer, Arlo’s life changes forever.

“You look good, Herbert,’ Arlo admitted.
‘The wings suit you.’ The mouse climbed out of his sock and wriggled between the last page and the back cover of his book….

‘You want to see what happens next?’ Arlo asked.

Arlo put on the glasses and, like last time, the room took on a pinkish glow. The sketch filled with colour, and he felt himself being drawn inside the picture. There was a cool breeze and a sprinkle of rain…

A new book from an established Australian author, Wondrous Possibilities is engaging and easy to follow, with the story is filled with enough intrigue and mystery to keep readers hooked. It’s a great book for those who enjoy adventure stories, and it also has a strong emotional core, making it a compelling read.
