2024 QBD Books of the Year

Australian authors shine bright as QBD Books announces its
Book of the Year 2024 winners!

As bibliophiles around the country curate their summer reading and festive shopping lists, leading Australian-owned and operated book retailer, QBD Books, has announced its highly anticipated 2024 Book of the Year winners.

The winners for each category are:

  • Fiction: “The Ledge” by Christian White
  • Non-fiction: “The Voice Inside” by John Farnham with Poppy Stockell
  • Children’s literature: “The 113th Assistant Librarian” by Stuart Wilson

First announced in 2017, the Book of the Year winners are chosen by QBD’s team of literary enthusiasts and buyers, who lovingly compare hundreds of engaging books, before the deserving winners are separated into three categories – fiction, non-fiction, and children’s.

The authors shared their thoughts on receiving this prestigious recognition:

Christian White, author of ‘The Ledge,’ said: “Winning the QBD Book of the Year feels like getting a giant gold star from the universe. It’s an honour and a reminder of QBD’s wonderful support. Awards like this inspire authors to keep creating and help readers discover new worlds and perspectives.”

John Farnham, co-author of ‘The Voice Inside,’ commented: “I am blown away. Thank you. And to all the booksellers, l am so very grateful for your support and for embracing the book.”

Stuart Wilson, author of ‘The 113th Assistant Librarian,’ added: “I’m incredibly honoured to have won QBD’s Book of the Year in the children’s category. Among other things, ‘The 113th Assistant Librarian’ is a story about my love of books, so I’m thrilled to see it resonate with so many readers!”
