The Language Of Food by Annabel Abbs

Annabel Abbs is an incredibly talented non-fiction and fiction writer from England. Annabel’s debut novel, The Joyce Girl, won the 2015 Impress Prize for New Writing and the 2015 Spotlight First Novel Award. It was a Reader Pick in The Guardian 2016 and was one of ten books selected for presentation at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival. It is currently being adapted for the stage. Her newest title “The Language of Food” was released earlier this month!

With recipes that leap to life from the page, “The Language of Food” is the most thought-provoking and page-turning historical novel you’ll read this year. This book explores the enduring struggle for female freedom, the power of female friendship, the creativity and quiet joy of cooking and the poetry of food, all while bringing Eliza Action out of the archives and back into the public eye.

Exclusively for our QBD blog readers, we have a recipe extract from the book! You can find it, here:
