OUR 2022 BOOKS OF THE YEAR

We are thrilled to finally introduce our “2022 Books of the Year!” After being carefully hand-selected by an incredible team of literary experts, “Lying Beside You” by Michael Robotham, “My Dream Time: A Memoir of Tennis and Teamwork” by Ash Barty, and “A Girl Called Corpse” by Reece Carter have taken the TOP SPOTS!

Our Fiction Book of the Year “Lying Beside You” follows two missing women, one witness, and a multitude of lies. Michael Robotham – award-winning master of crime – has eloquently created a story with superior writing, clever plotting, and exceptional characters. We are thrilled to be supporting a prolific Australian author, in what has been a year of extraordinary storytelling.

“My Dream Time: A Memoir of Tennis and Teamwork” by Ash Barty has been chosen as our Non-Fiction Book of the Year – and for good reason. This remarkable title shares Ash’s story – in her words. It’s a story about the power and joy of doing what you love and seeing where it can take you, and the importance of purpose – and perspective – in our lives. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Written by debut author Reece Carter – “A Girl Called Corpse” has been awarded our Children’s Book of the Year. This dazzling story is set in a forgotten coastal town that fizzes with secret magic, and follows a lonely child ghost who goes searching for answers about her past. Bursting with mystery and filled with unforgettable characters, there is no denying that this book was a stand-out in 2022!

Of the thousands of wonderful titles considered, we could not be happier with our 2022 selections.

“Friends, Lovers & The Big Terrible Thing” by Matthew Perry

In this title, beloved television star Matthew Perry takes readers behind the scenes of one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, while also opening up about his darkest days, and his greatest friends. While delivering a powerful message of hope and persistence, this title is unflinchingly honest, moving, and THE book fans have been waiting for.

“The Next Girl” by Pip Drysdale

“The Next Girl” by bestselling author Pip Drysdale is an addictive read with plenty of twists, turns, and surprises. This dark new thriller has an incredible writing style that hooks you from the first page and makes you want to devour the story in one sitting. It is engaging, exciting, fast-paced, and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

“Demon in the Wood” by Leigh Bardugo & Dani Pendergast

It is no secret that ‘Shadow and Bone’ has taken the world by storm – from the success of its incredible book series to its hit Netflix original show! Now, fans can watch The Darkling’s origin story come to life in the brand-new prequel by Leigh Bardugo and Dani Pendergast. This must-have graphic novel is exquisitely illustrated, magical, and impossible to put down. If you LOVE the Grishaverse, this title deserves a top spot on your bookshelf.

“Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match” by Sally Thorne

Sally Thorne, the author and Tik Tok sensation who brought us “The Hating Game” and “Second First Impressions” is BACK with her brand-new title “Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match”. This unconventional rom-com is spooky, sweet, and has enough witty banter to make you laugh out loud. It’s wonderfully weird, quirky, and we recommend to any fiction reader who wants to try something new!
