Forty Nights – Pirooz Jafari

Pirooz Jafari migrated to Australia more than two decades ago as an ambitious photographer. However, his experience of witnessing violations of human rights ignited a passion in him to pursue legal studies. In the summer of 2003, Pirooz graduated as a lawyer. Since then, he has worked in various community-based organisations and statutory bodies. Earlier this month, Pirooz wrote his first literary fiction novel “Forty Nights.” **

This incredible story follows Tishtar who runs a small legal practice in Melbourne. Here, he meets Habiba – a new client who seeks to bring her orphan nieces to Australia from war-torn Somalia. Spanning continents and centuries, “Forty Nights” is a tale of the ongoing effects of dispossession and dislocation – a struggle humankind has faced long into its past.

Exclusively for our QBD blog readers, we have an except from “Forty Nights” for you to enjoy!
