I don’t remember a time when I couldn’t quote The Princess Bride. It’s one of those fantastic movies that never seems to get old, even though it came into the world only three months after I did.
This book is the perfect celebration of this movie. Written by the Dread Pirate Roberts himself, this book is funny, warm, and memorable, just like the film itself. Filled with hilarious anecdotes (like the time when Andre the Giant realised he was strong enough to lift a small car, and decided to use this power to move his friends’ cars while they weren’t looking into tiny, impossible places), As You Wish is a book that will keep a smile on your face long after you’ve turned the last page.
Throughout the memoir, Cary has scattered reminiscences from cast and crew, which really highlight what a wonderful project this must have been to work on.
As You Wish is a perfect Christmas present for any Princess Bride fan. And don’t forget the book that started the whole phenomenon, The Princess Bride by William Goldman.
