Reviewsday: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

mebeforeyouI can’t even with this book.

Where are the tissues? No, seriously.

This book started out a little slow for me and I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it, I even thought that it may have just been another run of the mill chick lit sort of book.

But there is substance here that just isn’t measurable in any other recent fiction that I’ve read. Tackling heavy issues both moral and societal, Jojo Moyes has written a beautiful, heartbreaking novel that will stay with me for a very long time.

I didn’t expect to love this, but even as I write this, having just dried the tears from my eyes I know that I did. Me Before You is one of those books that you want to start again as soon as you finish the last page.

I loved almost every character. I have issues with Will’s parents but I really couldn’t stomach Lou’s mother. She turned out to be a horrible person, as did Patrick, the ex.

This story had layers unfathomable. And it was a beautiful story.

To Jojo Moyes, thank you.
