Spotlight on QBD Toowoomba

Our Toowoomba team have dazzled us with their reviews (and their smiles) this week
– even outshining our Spotlight!

9780552997041A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson:
This is my favourite Bill Bryson book. As the title suggests, he covers nearly everything that is interesting about the planet and the universe in which we live.
He starts with a bang (literally), about the origins of the cosmos, discusses scientific discoveries (sometimes stolen from others), volcanoes, earthquakes, the rise of life, Charles Darwin and much, much more.
The best thing about reading this book, is not just how much you will learn, but also how entertaining and fascinating it is to read. – Janelle (Store Manager)

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak:
Markus Zusak has gone above and beyond with this book, because by the time one has flipped every last page they will have fallen in love with Liesel Meminger’s entrance and survival in the broken nation, during the time that swastikas were worn by all except for Jews, Hans and Rosa Hubermann and the book thief. If you ask me, this book is definitely worth the read. – Clare

9781743690352Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica:
When you have two adults, a teenager and you throw a baby in to the mix this twisted psychological thriller will have you from the very first word.
With all the ups and downs in this book you might think that you know what’s going to happen but then wham! it blows your mind with how it ends. I know that it left me thinking for a long time after.
The only word that I can think of to describe this book is WOW.
If you were a lover of Gone Girl this is the book for you. – Barbara

Dragon’s Lair by Chantal Fernando:
If you love reading about bad boys, then you need these books in your life. Chantal Fernando has fast become one of my new favourite authors. I have been dragged through the world of the Wind Dragons MC, falling in love with all the characters and becoming emotionally attached to them. This series gets better with every new book and there’s only three so far! A must read for fans of Kylie Scott. – Helena

9780964729230The Shack by William P Young:
This would have to be one of my favourite books. Taking the reader on an incredible journey and emotional ride. Experiencing the high pressure and thriller moments to the calm and beautiful loving moments this story is able to dabble in a gripping beginning to a wonderful ending. Also showing a different way of thinking about love, understanding and forgiveness. – Jessica

Internal Medicine by Terrence Holt:
Internal Medicine is a fascinating insight into the professional lives of doctors. Filled with individual stories about patients and medicine, it is full of fascinating glimpses into the profession. Even the most horrifying and saddening moments are told beautifully, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to see the more personal side of medicine, and the struggles doctors must go through when dealing with death. – Amanda
