The Princess Bride by William Goldman

classics
Please don't judge this book by its title. I know a lot of people out there imagine that, with a title like 'The Princess Bride', this probably reads like some long-lost Barbie plotline.

You couldn't be further from the truth.

I simply cannot oversell this book. From the moment I read it, I fell in love. With the book, with the characters, and with the writing. If you've seen the movie, you already know the story: a rollicking high-adventure romance story with pirates, giants, swordfights, torture, and true love. If you haven't read the book, however, you're missing out on half the story.

Follow Inigo Montoya as he travels the world in his quest to become the greatest swordsman the world has ever seen. Watch as Fezzik, the gentlest giant, becomes a legendary fighter with an unfair advantage (and he doesn't even work out!). See how Buttercup grows from a lovely young girl into the most beautiful woman in the world, and eventually catching the eye of the great and terrible Prince Humperdinck.

This book is a modern classic with all the trimmings. You will laugh, you will fret, you will gasp, and once you've finished reading, you will want to turn back to page 1 and start the whole ride over again.
