The spotlight is on QBD Macarthur Square this week as they present
'Magnanimous Macarthur's Riveting Reads!'.
Gallipoli Street by Mary-Anne O'Connor: Gallipoli Street is a tale of 3 families spread across two world wars. It is an emotional read of love and loss that takes you back to the time of our soldiers. A true expression of the ANZAC spirit. A must read! - Nadine (Store Manager)
The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss: The Name of The Wind is story telling at it's best! A story within a story, it is an account of the adventures had by main character Kvothe, a boy who grew up to be a legendary hero. Beautifully written and fast paced, it is a fascinating story that is a must read for all fantasy lovers. - Adriana (2IC)
The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks: Another enveloping romantic novel by Nicholas Sparks. The Longest Ride tells the story of two couples separated by several years whose stories entwine shockingly and beautifully with tales and experiences that will both warm your heart and tear it apart. If you’ve loved his other novels, you’ll love this one too. Definitely try read it before you see the movie! - Liza
Outlander: Cross Stitch by Diana Gabaldon: Cross Stitch is the first book in the series which introduces you to Claire, a woman who travels back in time to 1743 and meets her husband's six-times great-grandfather. Her only chance of safety comes from meeting a gallant young Scots warrior, Jamie Fraser, who becomes more than a savior to Claire. So begins an amazingly beautiful love story that endures throughout time. This story is wonderfully written and impossible to put down. - Jennifer
American Sniper by Chris Kyle: You would be hard pressed to have missed the recent publicity this book has received with the release of the movie. It is awesome in every sense of the word, from the size of the man to the size of his story. It is Chris Kyle's autobiography of his rise in the Navy Seals to become the man known as 'The Legend' in the Iraqi War, and famed as the most lethal sniper in U.S. history. It is a great read and the pages turn themselves! I could not put it down and at the end was left with wonder and admiration for the man. - Daniel
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James: The news was filled with coverage of Fifty Shades of Grey as people flooded into the store to purchase their copy. "What is this book that has women going so crazy?" I wonder, so I went to find out... Yep. Not a book about painting using various hues of grey at all! I would like to say I was prepared for what I was about to read, but I guess even I can still be surprised. It follows the 'intriguing' relationship of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. I can't go into too much detail about the content of the book, but for those of you who don't know I'll leave it up to your imagination. - Daniel Grey
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein: The Giving Tree tells the story of unconditional love and an everlasting friendship. The simple yet powerful text is complemented by the beautifully simplistic illustrations. An absolute favourite of mine and an essential classic to have in your collection. - Tarni
